Man arrested after wife commits suicide

By Yang Ater Yang

Authorities in Lakes State are investigating the tragic case of a 20-year-old woman, identified as Mrs. Mangoaw Ayar, who recently took her own life in Wulu County.

The incident occurred earlier this week in Domuloto Payam.

Lakes State Police spokesperson Maj. Elijah Mabor Makuac reported that the police were alerted to the situation and quickly intervened.

While investigating, they discovered multiple injuries on the victim’s body, leading them to arrest her husband as part of the inquiry.

Maj. Makuac noted that the circumstances surrounding her death are unusual compared to typical suicide cases in the region.

“At the crime scene, there was significant bleeding and numerous wounds,” he stated. “These factors warrant further investigation, so we have brought the body to Rumbek State Hospital for a thorough postmortem to establish the exact cause of death. However, we currently lack adequate transportation for this purpose.”

He emphasized the importance of openness when dealing with personal pain.

“I always advise our people that many reasons behind suicide stem from suffering that needs to be shared,” he said.

“If someone is hurting, it’s crucial to talk about it with trusted friends or family. There’s always a solution to problems, and sharing can lead to support. Yet, if someone remains silent, they may feel trapped in their suffering, which can lead to tragic decisions.”

The investigation continues as authorities seek to uncover the truth behind this heartbreaking incident.
