Over 120 police to receive training in Rwanda

South Sudan National Police Service is set to dispatch more police personnel for further professional training in Kigali, Rwanda.

The training aims at equipping the institution with a professional workforce.

According to a statement obtained, at least one hundred and twenty (120) comprising commissioned and noncommissioned officers will undertake the training.

The 3 months of training targets junior tactical command, airport security management, and public order.

“The second batch of One hundred and twenty officers and non-commissioned officers from the National Police Services from different units were selected to attend a three three-month training on junior tactical command, airport security management, and public order in Kigali Rwanda,” the statement partially read.

Addressing the forces, Inspector General of Police Gen. Atem Marol Biar urged the forces to be disciplined and cooperate with their instructors.

The police chief described training as one of the best tools for reform.

Biar was severally seen meeting and engaging with his counterparts in the region and beyond including Kenyan police chief, Japhet M. Koome discussing training opportunities, cooperation and sharing of information between the two police services in the region.

South Sudan is preparing for the anticipated December 22, 2024, general elections as announced by the National Election Commission, and thus, electoral security is one of the prerequisites for a free, fair, credible, and peaceful elections.
