A woman was discovered dead at Bar-Mayen in Aweil Center County, Northern Bahr El Gazal state, on Wednesday.
The unidentified woman believed to be around 35 years old, reportedly succumbed after drinking heavily and attempting to return home.
Peter Natale, the commissioner of Aweil Center County, stated that an investigation is underway to determine the cause of her death.
“It is unfortunate. Witnesses say she was intoxicated in the market during the day, and she suddenly died while trying to get home,” Natale explained.
He noted that there were visible injuries on her mouth, ear, and head, suggesting she may have collapsed before her death.
“These signs indicate she might have suffered a severe fall,” he added.
The commissioner urged the community in Bar-Mayen to come forward with any information regarding the incident, although many locals attribute her death to alcoholism.
Natale also called on the youth, women, and able-bodied individuals to refrain from excessive drinking and to seek alternative means of livelihood, emphasizing the importance of making responsible choices.
