South Sudan government, in collaboration with various partners, is training Ruweng Administrative Area lawmakers.

The three-day training, for over 20 members of the Ruweng Administrative Area Legislative Council, seeks to enhance their understanding of their roles and improve accountability within the executive branch.

During the opening session on Tuesday, Tiob De Monyluak, the Chief Administrator of Ruweng, stated that the training would empower council members to fulfil their responsibilities effectively.

He said when legislators are well-trained, it becomes easier for them to execute their duties as mandated by law.

Monyluak urged participants to take the training seriously and to apply the knowledge gained in their work.

He also called for collaboration between the legislative council and his administration to ensure that essential services are delivered to the community.

Clement Nichola Rombe, the Director General for Legislative Affairs in the National Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, highlighted that the training aims to familiarize lawmakers with their role in holding the executive accountable.

He assured participants that they would acquire valuable insights into the workings of the Assembly and the government.

Rombe commended the Chief Administrator for his commitment to empowering the legislative council with knowledge.

He reiterated that lawmakers represent their communities and should always strive to fulfill their roles responsibly.

He also pledged that the national government, with support from partners and UNDP, would continue to provide training for lawmakers across the country to promote effective governance.

Rombe expressed the government’s commitment to ensuring that parliamentarians and legislative council members receive the necessary training to perform their duties effectively.
