To be a government official in South Sudan comes with a lot of responsibilities, most of which you use to hurt the civil population.
If the president employs people to investigate how the citizens talk bad behind his back, the whole country will be arrested.
It is everyone; even drunkards blame the government for making alcohol cheaper. Why overtaxing humanitarian aid and leaving the alcohol industry to thrive? The young ones, for your information, will continue to buy bottles of beer to discuss how far you have gone in making their future bleak.
The list goes on and on and it won’t stop. I remember, years back, I used to do 10 push-ups every morning before going out but now, I do only three out of ten and I think I have someone to blame, the government. It is how people survive; it is how they release their frustration.
I really mean it, everyone has something to use as a basis for blaming the president, bad roads, killings, and corruption and poor economy. It is even in restaurants, they blame the government for poor customer service. You spend your hard-earned SSP 15,000 on a 4-piece plate of siya and a paper-size piece of kisra, and they will say that things are expensive in the market.
Imagine those who can’t that 15,000. There are millions of reasons to blame the poor system, especially those living lavishly at the expense of the disadvantaged majority. But the sad part of it is that the system doesn’t care about you or your children, as long as they are making a lot of money.
There is a need to introduce government courses in our schools to help students understand if this one is a government or something almost similar. It is heartbreaking fighting so hard for this country and coming so far to end up sad. It is our reality; we just live in complete denial of it.
As a common citizen, say your prayer and be grateful for the gift of life. This is going to take time, a really bad time. You are going to get tired and it is not going to change anything. Accept it, you are a common man. It is you versus the VIP. Let it sink in because you are going to lose, with all your children.
The privileges of being a VIP are very sweet, that is why every government official wants to be that one person who decides who lives and who dies. The South Sudanese VIPs can be very frustrating in one way and amusing in another. They think life starts and ends with them.
For one to qualify to be one, there are things you must do to be in the league of men who don’t care about absolutely anything. They are very simple and it is always fun. Let me go through.
First of all, you are a VIP if you show up during funerals. Every VIPs must attend every funeral of another VIP just to be given a speech and when they speak, they speak very loudly about how they used to know the deceased. They will promise to support the kids of the late and when they are done talking, they request the MC to speak about them and the schools they have gone to, if they haven’t gone to school, the MC should never forget about their current and past government positions. The MC should not mention anything related to education if they ended up in primary 4.
The South Sudanese VIPs and Shame are not good friends; they would even fight if they were to meet. The VIPs don’t wait for others to talk when they have talked because they are always busy. You must always pretend to be going somewhere and when someone calls you, don’t pick up their phone. Wait for one or two weeks and suddenly call them a month later. Remind them that you have been so busy with work but you still managed to return their call.
You are a good man and that is what every friend of yours should be talking about. Don’t give up when nobody is watching. Give in public and make pledges that leave people in shock. Promise to build schools and hospitals. Let young people drop their CVs in your office.
Your bodyguards must go everywhere you go with but when you are going for lunch, move with them but leave them outside when you are eating. Do the same when in church. You are a big man and there is no need to eat with people below your standard. When in the house of God, ask to be given a chance to talk to the congregation. Interrupt the church service.
There is no problem with that. God is your good friend and the congregation should be aware of this. Let them know that you are one of the few people who talk to God. Tell them that you are the only person who will be saved by God and that the rest will go to hell.
As a VIP, you have seen a lot in life. There is nothing you haven’t seen in this life. Take people’s lands by force and if they resist, eliminate them. You know people who used to take your food by force and you were beaten like a bag of sorghum when you tried to fight back as a little child. Do the same for the poor. Retaliate. If there is any successful young person you know, drag him down. Allow no son of a pauper to compete with your son.
You didn’t fight for this country to share opportunities with others. Leave them to suffer and be happy about it. As a VIP, you have never been happy for years, this is the time to do so. Take money that doesn’t belong to you. There is no problem with how you spend it. Buy alcohol with it and even young women; things you haven’t done in your youth. Remember you are a VIP; you can kill anyone if they oppose you. Always try never to tell the truth. It can make you sick. Lie and lie. You will continue to remain as mysterious as you are and the people of the land will never stop fearing you. There you go, VIP. Peace.
