One Citizen Network for Democracy (OCND), a community-based organization is urging the governments to launch independent investigations into the recent killings of civilians in Wonduruba Administrative Areas and Kulipapa, Ganji Payam in Central Equatorial State and Tonj North Warrap State.
On October 9, 2024, over 24 youths in Wonduruba Administrative Area and Kulipapa, Ganji Payam were brutally killed and 19 others injured.
Just days after, on October 12, 2024, over 20 people were killed in Tonj North County of Warrap State in an intercommunal violence. The incident left over 30 people injured.
In a statement seen by this outlet, One Citizen Network for Democracy condemned the killings and called for a thorough investigation to determine the motives behind the killings and to bring those responsible to justice.
The organization described the violence as a gross violation of human rights and a breach of international law, urging all parties to exercise restraint and refrain from further violence.
“We explicitly condemn this brutal and inhumane act. Under no circumstances should civilians be subjected to such horror and extrajudicial killings, which violate both national and international laws. This incident represents a grave violation of human rights,” partly read the statement.
One Citizen Network for Democracy (OCND) is a youth-led Community-Based Organization registered with the Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (RRC). Founded in 2021 with its headquarters in Juba – South Sudan, the organization’s work is meant to benefit the communities.
