The National Examination Council (NEC) has announced the date for the 2024 Primary Education and Certificate of Secondary Examinations.
The examinations will kick off in November and December 2024 respectively.
“I take this opportunity to inform candidates, parents and stakeholders that all processes of the 2024 examinations have been put in place and the examination administration dates have been fixed,” said Martin Tako, the Deputy Minister of General Education.
The Certificate of Primary Education [CPE] exams will start on Monday 18 November 2024 and end by Friday 22 November 2024, according to the calender, while Certificate of Secondary [CSE] exams will start on Monday 2 December 2024 and end by Wednesday 11 December 2024.
Mr. Tako added that the date was set in accordance with rules and regulations guiding the conduct of examinations in the country.
A total of 78,859 candidates (43,188 males, 35,871 females) have been registered to sit for Primary 8 examinations from 1,814 schools, and pupils are expected to write their papers at 520 centers countrywide.
Meanwhile, the candidates for senior four are 48,484 students (19,993 females, 28,551 males) who have been registered in 525 schools nationwide.
The Deputy Minister called on supervisors, invigilators, security and police to ensure a suitable environment for students.
Mr. Tako also warned candidates against cheating, asserting that students must read hard in order for them to pass or otherwise repeat class because no way to cheat [machot] again.
He decried of lack of funds and overwhelming flooding that has affected most of the country.
“I am optimistic that our government will keep the promise of holding examinations on schedules by providing the needed financial resources on time to conduct these examinations as scheduled,” he said.
