In a recent strategic meeting, Dr. Chol Deng Thon, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Petroleum, and the Director General of the Petroleum Authority engaged with Chen Jin Tao, Chairperson of the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), to explore opportunities for enhancing oil production across the country.
Dr. Thon emphasized the importance of these partnerships, stating, “the meeting focuses on issues to do with the resumption in blocks 3 and 7, which is DPOC and our recent visit to Port Sudan.
“The visit of Mr. Chen Jin Tao came as a result and following on what was agreed by the 2 Presidents of South Sudan and China where the agreed on CNPC to invest more in South Sudan,” Thon said.
The meeting highlighted plans to expand investment in both existing and new production sites, as well as operationalizing the pipeline network from Palouch to the Marine Terminal.
