A devastating flood has left more than 270,000 South Sudanese homeless, according to the latest report by the UN Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Assistance (OCHA).

The ongoing crisis has affected over one million people across the country, with 42 counties impacted.

The report states that 17 counties, including the Abyei Administrative Area, have been particularly hard hit, forcing residents to seek refuge in higher ground or neighboring areas.

Northern Bahr el Ghazal and Unity states have been identified as the most severely affected regions, with over 40% of their populations impacted by the floods.

Heavy rainfall has also disrupted essential supply routes, making it difficult for humanitarian organizations and the government to reach those in need.

The situation is expected to worsen unless immediate action is taken to provide relief and support to the affected communities.
