Ruweng Legislative Council reopens

Ruweng Chief Administrator, Tiob De Monyluak, reopened Ruweng Administrative Area’s Legislative Council with a strong call for members to oversee the executive.

During the opening ceremony, Chief Administrator, Tiob called on the legislators to uphold with their oversight role of holding the Executive accountable on service delivery to people.

“This house that is our parliament will continue to serve as the place where our people representatives work diligently to address the needs of our people and contribute to the growth and development of Ruweng,” Tiob said.

He added that his administration will continue to work together with legislators to ensure that effective policies and laws are generated for the Administrative Area.

The Chief Administrator acknowledged that the role of the Executive is to deliver services, adding that failure to do that the legislators have a role to question.

“The role of the executive is to deliver or give services to our people that start from security, education, agriculture, and infrastructure, only to mention a few.”

In his part, Arop Kiir, the speaker of the Ruweng Legislative Council, urged the members to cooperate and focus on the unity of the people and the neighbouring states.

He added that the legislators have a role in creating good relationships between the people and the executives through peaceful engagement in decision-making.

Tiob, however, highlighted key achievements and revealed the development priorities for the coming year, adding that the sessions will be interesting as they remain significant milestones in advancing the Ruweng Administrative Area.
He emphasized the government’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and the rule of law.

Chief Administrator Tiob revealed that his administration will work hard to ensure that the legislative councils are established in the counties to support and monitor the work of county commissioners.

He shared plans to strengthen Panrieng Hospital by hiring two medical doctors to improve healthcare services in the area.

The Chief Administrator also reiterated the government’s commitment to fostering peace with neighboring regions and encouraged citizens to embrace agriculture to combat hunger.
