Over 1.4 million people affected by floods

By Kei Emmanuel Duku

A recent report by South Sudan government and Inter-Agency agencies reveals an approximate of 1.4 million people across 43 counties and Abyei Administrative Area, have been severely impacted by widespread flooding.

This natural disaster has caused significant displacement and suffering for countless families.
Jonglei and Northern Bahr-el-Ghazal states are among the hardest-hit regions, with over 51% of their populations already forced from their homes.

The destructive power of the floods has left many communities without shelter, food, or access to essential services.

It is estimated that more than 379,000 individuals have been displaced from their homes due to the floods. Additionally, a recent assessment in Central Equatorial State identified an additional 1,720 displaced people in the Mangalla areas of Juba County.

The flooding has created a serious health crisis, particularly in Central and West Equatorial States, Upper Nile, Jonglei, Unity, and Northern Bahr el Ghazal.

The destruction of health facilities has exacerbated the situation, leading to a surge in malaria cases.
As the humanitarian situation worsens, urgent action is needed to provide relief and support to the affected populations.
