A 32-year-old man tragically lost his life in an accident involving his motorbike and a rickshaw, locally known in Arabic as “Tuktuk,” on Friday in Aweil East County, Northern Bahr el Ghazal.

The deceased, identified as Aguot Anei Lual, was a boda-boda rider who was travelling with two passengers from Wanjok town to Madhol Payam when the accident occurred.

Eyewitness Chan Bol recounted the unfortunate incident that took place along the highway linking Madhol Payam and Wanjok town.

“Mr. Aguot was a married man who tried various means to make ends meet. He started working as a boda-boda rider, and sadly, he died in a collision with a rickshaw on Friday at Manawan. He bled profusely from his mouth, ears, and nose after the impact, which happened around 7:30 PM,” said Chan.

“He was carrying two other passengers—a man named Garang Deng Malong, who is a plumber, and a young girl with whom he attended training at Manawan Highway,” he continued.

The eyewitness explained that Mr. Aguot attempted to overtake another vehicle when the collision occurred, resulting in his death.

The two passengers sustained serious injuries, including broken legs. He noted that Aguot died at the scene, while the other two victims are being prepared for transport to Juba for further medical treatment.

Residents attribute such incidents to reckless speeding, especially since the highway was recently repaired by ARC Company, and many people are neglecting road safety measures.

Authorities, particularly traffic officials, are urging the public to remain vigilant and avoid excessive speed, as the road is used by multiple types of vehicles.

The death of Mr. Aguot Anei Lual shocked both the residents of Madhol and his home village of Anguot. He was known for being hardworking and resilient. He is survived by his wife.
