Malakia FC secured their spot in the finals of the 14th South Sudan Cup under the Juba Local Football Association after defeating Rainbow FC 1-0 in the first semifinal on Saturday at Juba National Stadium.
Mabior Herjok, a former Salam FC Bor striker, scored the decisive goal in the 88th minute, sealing a hard-fought victory for Malakia FC, often referred to as the “Royal Culb”
The first half was a tight affair, with both teams creating chances but failing to capitalize. However, the introduction of Malish Kennedy, Mandela Nelson, and Herjok in the second half injected fresh energy into Malakia’s attack, ultimately overwhelming Rainbow FC.
Malakia FC advanced to the semifinals by defeating Rock City FC 4-1 on penalties after a goalless draw.
In the second semifinal, defending champions Jamus FC faced off against Munuki FC in the highly anticipated “Munuki Derby.” The winner of this match will face Malakia FC in the final.
