Dr. Alic hands over office

By Deng Athian

In a smooth leadership transition between former Governor of Bank of South Sudan, Dr. James Alic and his successor, Johnny Ohisa, the duo discussed ongoing policies and projects.

Dr. Alic paid a courtesy visit to his successor to provide insights on the bank’s initiatives.

“What we have done yesterday, the new incoming team led by Hon. Johnny Ohisa, you will pick up and you will build on from where we have left. I will use this opportunity to highlight three things. To build on, it means you have to look at the policies of the last administration, review them and move forward. To build on, they have, to look at the projects in the Bank of South Sudan has invested much time; to move, they have to look at the staff welfare,’’ he said.

In his part, Governor Johnny Ohisa expressed his gratitude for Dr. Alic’s leadership.

“I want to thank my brother, Governor Hon. Dr. James Alic. We have known each other at very long time. I am very happy for him to update me on the projects he has initiated and what I should do to finish them. I promised him that I would continue the unfinished projects as he had done when he took over from me. This building (Bank headquarters) and Bank Mansion’s construction were started, and he came to finish them,” he said.
Governor Ohisa pledged to uphold the projects initiated by Dr. Alic as he steps into his new role.

“We will continue to seek his guidance and ideas because this country needs all of us to build. I am very happy and wish him all the best in his future endeavors,” he added.

Jonny Ohisa was appointed early this week, replacing Dr, James Alic who has served as the Bank’s governor since October 2023.
