Why I write about the human conditions [Last part]

This is going to be the end of my series and equally the end of my Facebook writing for this year as I plan to freeze my online activities next year for some personal reasons until next time and that means not writing weekly like I used to do. This does not include my usual newspaper column.

I will continue to keep it active, for as long as I want but for social media, this is not the end. I just want to take some break from it. Thanks if you have always been reading my articles. Every post or writing on Facebook is always optional.

The good part of social media is the freedom to choose which content to consume and which one to ignore. Thanks for reading most of my work.

As we all know, every good thing comes to an end and it is the same thing for all your problems, your difficult days. They will all be gone one day or they could equally be the start of something else. Only God knows what he has in store for you. Don’t lose hope when life is hard. You will rise. I didn’t mean you will never fall but when you do, don’t forget to get yourself up. It is interesting to be human because you will experience it with all its pains, its hurts and joys.

The biggest problem is thinking that you are the worst person that has ever lived on the face of this earth. Everyone is going through something and most are happy through it, with all their problems.

There are about 8 billion people on this planet and millions of them have nowhere to sleep. No food. Some don’t have families and others are sick, praying every single second for recovery with tears in their eyes. When you think your life is not making any sense, remember some of these people. Celebrate your small wins. Hug all your losses. Life will never be better. It could even be worse tomorrow. Live in the moment and appreciate everything that comes with it.

And remember, this is December. It was a race to get here and if lucky enough, you will have the chance to welcome a new year, just in a few days. Not everyone is lucky to make it through the 12 months of the year. If you are right here, Congratulations. For those who didn’t make it, we continue to pray for a world that is a little kind to mankind.

This year has been a blessing to many people and to millions of others; it has been nothing but pain. In January, you got admitted to the best college of your dreams but there is another who has only received rejection.

Life is about contexts and to be honest, it is not like a Nigerian movie. Sorry for putting it that way but life will always have its own plans, aside from your very own. For the movie, you need a scriptwriter and a director and you are set. Just follow the script and you will have a perfect end.

You know how some movies start; there is this village boy, from a very poor background who goes to the city and ends up becoming a millionaire, maybe by marrying the daughter of a rich man. This doesn’t work in real life or it can depend on some factors but the truth is the world is not kind enough to treat you with kid gloves. Think about the wildlife and round it to the nearest human condition, especially the struggle to survive. There is no difference. It is all about living harder, every day and it never changes.

There is no meaning in the animal world. Every day is like yesterday and it all goes down to how faster or slower you run. The sad part of everything is that most animals lead short lifespans and violent ends. Imagine an antelope, who just gave birth a few days ago and in the process of raising the baby, is pursued by a pack of hungry hyenas: it eventually gives up, is captured and eaten alive, with the baby.

Everything is always uncertain, you don’t know where you will get your next meal or if you will ever live to see another day but one thing is always certain, the day when you will be taken down by your enemy, when you are eaten by hungry and angry groups of animals.

A lot of animals in the wild die shortly after coming into existence, with their lives containing little or no more than the pain of their deaths. And they likely die in pain after having lived a painful life.

Just like these animals, it is hard to escape the pain of being human. Nobody has ever done that. From billionaires to the poorest at the bottom of the economic pyramid, our desire is to have more than what we already have and there is pain in knowing that the world doesn’t have that much to satisfy all our needs. I call it a chase that ends at nothing. There is no happiness in the end because it is all illusion. Enjoy the present. Do something now that makes you happy. Help someone. Go to school. Start a business. Donate to charity. Stop pleasing everyone. Live.
