By Hou Akot Hou

Ajuongdit community association in Northern Bahr el Ghazal State has called on Vice President and Chair of the Economic Cluster, Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel to address South Sudan’s struggling economy.

The community, deeply impacted by the nation’s economic hardship, expressed their hopes in a letter to Dr. Bol Mel and also urged him to lead with integrity.

The association, comprised of members from Dr. Bol Mel’s home area, thanked President Salva Kiir Mayardit for appointing “their son of the soil” to the crucial role.

They expressed confidence that Dr. Bol Mel would work closely with the Ministry of Finance to enact necessary changes.

“We applaud the leadership of H.E Salva Kiir Mayardit, President of the Republic of South Sudan, for the trust given to you to serve the people of South Sudan,” the letter stated.

Beyond congratulations, the association emphasized the urgent need to address the challenges faced by communities, including a lack of basic services such as schools, healthcare, and roads.

They urged the Vice President to work selflessly, without bias or regionalism, for the benefit of the entire nation.

It remains to be seen how Vice President Benjamin Bol Mel will address the challenges and deliver on promises, such as ensuring timely salary disbursements.
