Traffic police in Twic County, Warrap State, have detained a young motorist following an accident that occurred early this week.

The incident happened as he was transporting a woman who fell off the motorcycle while they were traveling from Twic County to Turalei Town, Gogrial East.

Colonel Kur Mabuoc, the traffic officer in the area, reported that the accident took place on their way to Pan-Liet village in Gogrial East.

The victim, identified as 23-year-old Abuk Ayii Mangok, sustained severe neck and head injuries after falling off the motorcycle, which lost control while moving at high speed.

Colonel Mabuoc attributed the cause of the accident to overspeeding, warning that the situation could have resulted in a fatality had circumstances been different.

The rider was speeding and fell into a deep hole, which caused them to lose control.

“The woman fell from the rear seat and struck her head violently. Bystanders rushed to assist, and she was taken to Turalei Hospital for treatment. As of now, she is unable to speak,” he said.

The officer urged motorcyclists to be cautious and mindful of the poor road conditions that could lead to serious accidents.

He also stated that the motorist will be brought to court, as he is currently being held in police custody.
