The misuse of social media platforms has further fueled the conflict.
“It is crucial for all stakeholders, including politicians, media outlets, and social media users, to act responsibly to prevent further escalation of violence and the disintegration of our social fabric,” the statement read.

Constitutional post-holders are also advised to consider the impact of their words and avoid inflammatory statements that could lead to further bloodshed.
Despite the political nature of the conflict, the Media Authority stressed that media houses and journalists must avoid reporting along ethnic or tribal lines, which could endanger the lives of citizens in affected areas.
The Authority called for conflict-sensitive reporting, urging journalists to respect human rights and uphold the dignity of all communities.
“The misuse of social media to spread misinformation and disinformation is a major concern. Such actions aim to destabilize the country and sow distrust. Social media platforms must be used responsibly, and users should be aware of the legal consequences of spreading harmful content,” the statement added.
The Media Authority further urged the media to promote independent journalism that avoids harm while serving the public interest. Violators of the country’s laws, including politicians and the general public, will be held accountable.
However, the Media Authority called for the safety and protection of journalists reporting on conflicts, and unhindered access to information deemed to be in the public interest.
It further added that while reporting on conflict-sensitive stories, Journalists should be able to work without fear of reprisal or violence while observing precautionary measures to minimize harm.
The Media Authority reiterated its commitment to working with law enforcement agencies to ensure justice is served while in so doing, outlets are urged to exercise utmost responsibility in their reporting.
“Given the current situation, all stakeholders must collaborate to curb hate speech and incitement to violence. Journalists should strive to provide authentic and credible information that serves the public interest. Conflict-sensitive reporting should be prioritized to support peace-building efforts and minimize harm. Media should serve as a tool for peace and stability rather than promoting conflict,” the statement concluded.
