A driver of commercial vehicle has on Monday evening, been killed in an ambush along Juba-Bor highway.
According to Jonglei State police report, vehicles were traveling from juba to Bor before coming under attack.
Jonglei state Police Spokesperson, 1st Lt. James Akech said the vehicles fell under attack at Magokollong, near three Arial, along Juba –Bor road.
“The issue of juba-Bor road incident which occurred yesterday evening, resulted to the killing of a foreign driver,” he stated.
He says most of the vehicles that got into the road ambush sustained multiples stray bullets made it to reach Bor safely.
According to Akech, the security forces between Jonglei State and Central Equatoria state are working closely to contain the situation along Juba-Bor.
“The jurisdiction is for Central Equatoria, as of now the road is possible, cars are moving. Within these few days, we shall be able to escort the vehicle until the situation develops further,” Akech added.
The police spokesperson said that it’s not clear where the attackers came from but the necessary investigations are being made.
“We are in coordination with Central Equatoria state authority to investigate these kinds of incidents and to ensure safety of juba-Bor travelers,” he emphasized.
