A local barrister tragically passed away on Wednesday due to an accident.
The lawyer, Nyang Chut Ajiing, was well-respected by the young men he assisted with their cases, including the recent case of Dut Kuot Akok, who had legal matters involving the governor.
They praised him for his humility and his extensive knowledge of the law.
Mr. Chut reportedly died while travelling by motorbike between Udhum and Wadwil on Wednesday.
A source, who wished to remain anonymous, described the accident as heartbreaking, leaving many in disbelief.
“The passing of Molana Nyang is so cruel, and we can’t believe such a young man’s life could end in this manner. He was a man of great service to the nation in the legal field,” the source stated. “We are still trying to gather more information about the circumstances of his death.”
Dut Kuot Akok, the young man for whom Mr. Chut was providing defense services, is facing defamation charges against Governor Ober Mawut in Aweil.
Late Wednesday evening, he expressed his grief on social media, confirming the news of his lawyer’s passing in a motorbike accident.
Many of Mr. Chut’s clients, including Dut, have taken to Facebook to share their condolences, overwhelmed by the loss of the barrister.
