Traditional leaders from Uror County, Jonglei State, have reiterated their commitment to collaborate closely with the newly appointed Governor of Jonglei State, Dr. Riek Gak Kok.
This pledge followed a government delegation, led by Tang Chatiem, and including Deputy Gen. James Malith Gatluak, Major Gen. Samuel Bidit, and others, meeting with traditional leader Gok Deng Dak Kueth and Uror spiritual leaders.
The meeting aimed to establish a joint working relationship to foster peace, unity, progress, development, and good governance within the state.
During the meeting, Traditional Chief Dak Kueth informed the Jonglei State government delegation that Uror County citizens face challenges including inadequate road networks, limited access to clean drinking water, poor telecommunication networks, and under-equipped schools.
Despite these challenges, the traditional leader expressed readiness to partner with state authorities to address critical development issues in the county.
“I call on leaders from all sectors and citizens alike to participate actively in discussions on the state’s progress. Constructive engagement will help us drive meaningful change,” stated Dak Kueth.
He further expressed appreciation to President Salva Kiir Mayardit for appointing Dr. Riek Gai Kok as Governor of Jonglei State, promising Uror County’s continued support.
Hon. Tang Chatim, leading the government delegation, assured Traditional Leader Dak Kueth and the citizens of Uror County that Governor Riek Gai Kok’s administration is committed to working with grassroots leaders. He stated that the administration would take deliberate steps to harness the county’s potential and promote sustainable growth through collaboration.
Chatim and his delegation further conveyed Governor Riek’s commitment to ending the people’s suffering.
Deputy delegation leader, Gen. James Malith, added that Governor Dr. Riek Gai Kok has assured the public of his government’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and responsiveness in service delivery.
He emphasized the state leadership’s dedication to improving the entire Jonglei State, including Uror County.
“The Governor will make deliberate efforts to overturn the current status of Jonglei and set the state on the path of sustainable growth,” stated a release from the State’s Press Unit social media page.
The delegation stated that this collaborative effort aligns with Governor Riek Gai’s vision for a new Jonglei, as outlined during his recent meeting with Traditional Leader Dak Kueth’s delegation in Juba, where he emphasized the importance of collective effort in achieving a secure, united, and prosperous state.
The delegation urged residents of Uror County to actively participate in governance and development.
The meeting between the government delegation and the Traditional Chief was attended by community members, military officers, and Paramount Chiefs.
