Commissioner of Yei River County, Emmanuel Taban Seme, stated that the security situation is calm.
Taba make the remark while briefing Secretary of Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) and other members on Monday.
The assurance comes amidst ongoing cattle movement across the county.
Commissioner Taban urged all farmers within the county to continue their activities, as a significant number of cattle herders are returning to areas of origin.
He also addressed the issue of emerging gang groups in the county.
The commissioner affirmed the government’s commitment to minimizing gang activity through the enforcement of laws to deter criminal acts within the town.
Ale Satimon, SPLM Secretary for Yei River County, commended the Commissioner for briefing them on the security and economic situations, as well as current developments within the county.
In a related development, youth in Yei River County are calling on the government to protect the civilian population from the impact of cattle herders, particularly during the agricultural season.
This appeal comes amidst the challenging economic conditions that citizens are currently facing.
Dara Felix, a youth representative, pledged to support farmers by providing tractors to ease their farming processes, highlighting Yei’s crucial role as a major food-producing region in South Sudan.
