Your Excellence, Salva Kiir Mayardit, President of the Republic of South Sudan, forgive your brother, Dr Riek Machar Teny, First vice president of the republic.
Happy Easter,
My President, I come before you with my knees down, asking for your kindness to listen to my request.
Dear President, first and foremost, when you rebelled against the Sudan regime back in 1983, it was a suffering of your generation and generation to come. You left other things to liberate us from the previous regime.
We gained our independent with a high hope from you and your colleagues, but unfortunately, things didn’t go the very way we expected.
So, I want to bring into your attention, that we who are in opposition side are not your enemies, nor against your government progress, but it’s a difference of ideas in which we will come to consensus at any time, and that will not isolate us from being South Sudanese, nor your people. Only enemies of peace and togetherness, do misunderstand political differences in that context.
I would like to ask for your kindness to forgive your brother, Dr. Riek Machar Teny, in what ever the circumstances, dialogue with him and others involved in incidents to restore sanity in our country.
I’m saying this because you are a man of forgiveness, which is in your blood and family where you come from, I’m asking this because killing that happened every day anywhere in South Sudan is not good in your leadership.
Furthermore. the peace agreement that people are playing with, today, they didn’t know how much you suffered with a lot of compromises during the negotiations. So don’t let opportunists take you out of your fit. There are many people who are not happy when they see you still working with the members of the opposition.
As a father of our nation, and president of the republic, I personally urge you, not to listen to those lies but work harder to sustain this peace agreement. While doing so, we will work hand in hand with you in order to achieve the lasting peace that South Sudanese are yearning for.
Best to regards to you and your esteem office.
