Central Equatoria State calls for calm over land dispute in Munuki

Central Equatoria State government has called for calm over St. Stephen’s Parish Church dispute that result to stoning of some priests in Munuki Block on Thursday.

According to a statement, Central Equatoria state minister for cabinet Affairs, Lupai Satimon urged the people involved in riots to calm down.

“This issue is administrative and I believe we are going to get resolutions. as the governor isn’t around, we are asking for calm. Let us try to resolve this issue amicably. There will be no resolution if all us are harsh, so I believe let the people be calm,” he said

“I ask the church to calm down it is regrettable that somebody of that level of Archbishop seated down like that is regrettable, as a state we apologize for that,” Lupai stressed.

“We called for dialogue and we are going to sit together with the people in the area and I believe we are going to get an amicable solution to that,” he assured.

According to state Minister of Housing, Land, and Public Utilities, David Morbe Aquilino, has surprised with sadden news and added the ministry hadn’t sent people on the ground.

“After they had got the information on social media, we were shocked and unhappy as state over what had happened. We didn’t send people here on the ground,” he said.

The minister said the state government did not issue and order over the land.
