Kator FC’s Peter, scoops Coach of the Month Award

By Kei Emmanuel Duku

Nicola Peter Orat of Kator FC has been recognized as Coach of the Month for a period spanning from March 27th to April 28th, that saw him guide his team to top of the South Sudan Premier League.

Honoring Peter also coincides with his striker, David Sebit, being named the best player of the month.

Sebit’s crucial goals in recent matches were instrumental in securing vital points for Kator FC, solidifying their position at the league’s summit throughout the past month.

Between March and April, Peter orchestrated two significant results for Loberas-Kator FC. The team fought back to secure a 3-3 draw against league favorites Jamus FC last month. In March, the Juba-based club also salvaged a 2-2 draw against reigning champions Al-Merriekh FC Bentiu, keeping them firmly in contention for the inaugural South Sudan Premier League title.

Coach Peter and Kator FC’s most emphatic victory during this period was a resounding 6-1 win over Koryom FC on April 19th. In March, Loberas-Kator FC also recorded 3-1 and 2-0 victories against Bentiu City and Holy Family of Unity and Lake States, respectively.

Despite their impressive run of victories and draws from March to April, Loberas began May with a narrow 1-0 defeat to Al-Hilal FC of Wau.

Currently, the team holds the top spot in the league table with 53 points from 22 matches played, despite their recent loss to Hilal FC. Jamus FC, who secured a 7-1 victory over Olympic FC of Renk on Friday, are level on 48 points with Holy Family FC, separated only by goal difference, however the Jamus FC have played fewer games compared to Kator FC and Holy Family.

Nicola Peter will be looking for his side to return to winning form after the defeat to Hilal when they face Malakia FC in a postponed South Sudan Premier League return fixture on May 13th, 2025, at Juba Stadium.

However, the SSFA has confirmed that the Central Equatorial State derby is yet to be rescheduled due to the participation of the U-20 girls’ national team in the ongoing World Cup qualifiers against Djibouti in Juba Stadium.
