South Sudan appoints first honorary consul for Brazil to bolster bilateral ties

South Sudan has officially received the appointment letter of Ms. Mary Juan Lotua, first Honorary Consul of the Federative Republic of Brazil to the nation.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Amb. Monday Semaya K. Kumba, formerly received the appointment of Ms. Lotua, on Monday morning. This move, signals a growing interest in strengthening diplomatic ties between the two countries.

During the meeting, Minister Kumba conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from His Excellency President Salva Kiir Mayardit to his Brazilian counterpart, His Excellency President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brazil.

Amb. Monday extended his heartfelt congratulations to Ms. Lotua on her new role. He underscored the significant importance South Sudan places on its relationship with Brazil and articulated a strong desire to enhance bilateral relations across various sectors.

The Minister, specifically highlighted the potential for increased economic cooperation, investment opportunities, and vibrant cultural exchanges between the two nations.

Upon presenting her letter of appointment, Ms. Lotua expressed her sincere gratitude to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the privilege of serving in this capacity.
