One person has been killed in a road ambush along the Baidit-Bor Town road on Monday evening.

According to Jonglei State Minister for Information, three young men encountered the ambush on their way back to Bor Town headquarters from Baidit Payam, where they attended wrestling activities.

Minister, Nyamar Loi said that one person died on the spot and two others sustained minor injuries following the incident.

“Well, I received the information. The gentlemen were traveling to Bor Town from Baidit Payam in the late evening yesterday, but unfortunately, they were ambushed. One of them was killed, and the other two sustained injuries,” she said.

She noted that the young men had been engaging in motorcycle business along the Jalle, Baidit, and Bor Town roads.

The minister added that the suspected attackers are believed to have crossed from the Pibor administrative area.

“Based on the security updates we received, the attackers came from Pibor. The authorities of the two states will need to engage to ensure that maximum security is granted,” she stated.

Efforts to reach authorities in Pibor were unsuccessful.

Issues of revenge killings, child abduction, and cattle raiding remain significant challenges for local communities in Jonglei State and the Pibor administrative area, hindering economic activities among the local population.
