Bari community in Lado Payam, Juba County, Central Equatoria State, plans to allot 22,000 plots, aiming to facilitate development in the area.

On Tuesday, community leaders, Chiefs, and the Development Association gathered at the Nyamini City Residential Area, marking the official launch of the land allotment and the showing of plots for those with existing documentation, as well as for new applicants wishing to acquire land.

According to the chiefs and the Area Development Association for Illa Kare and Ku’da Lo’dimi, the allotment will encompass plots of various sizes, including those for investment, at affordable fees.

Addressing participants in Nyamini, Lado Payam, Juba County, on Tuesday, Justin Lado Wani, Executive Chief of Jebel Lado, described the decision by local communities and state authorities to allocate land for development as bold.

Chief Lado appreciated the communities in the Nyamini area for permitting the land allotment, making it accessible to any South Sudanese wishing to purchase land.

He called on the public to come forward to acquire land, adding that the initiative is intended to expand Juba City.

“In Nyamini, we welcome all those who want to acquire land, regardless of their tribes, and I would like to appreciate the community for this great decision,” Chief Lado said.

Laku Kamilo Jele, Sub-Chief of Lado Payam, stated that residents, in consultation with state authorities, had agreed to allot the land to open up the area for development.

He urged the public to come forward to acquire land, assuring them that plots obtained through the proper procedures would be legally owned.

“As local chiefs, we sat down with our people and decided to allot land in this Nyamini City Residential Area. With this, roads will be opened, schools and hospitals will be built, and development will progress here in our area,” Kamilo said.

Alemi Tombe, Chairperson of the Development Committee in Lado Payam, stated that the commencement of the area’s allotment plan was long-awaited.

He revealed that some area roads have already been opened to ease the allotment process for those who have acquired documentation.

Tombe urged the public to promptly acquire land documentation from the Development Association office in Juba’s New Site residential area.

“People who need land should come to Nyamini and get land; all 64 tribes are welcome to acquire land here,” he said.

Juma Tombe, representing the Elders in Lado Payam, stated that the area is secure, noting the presence of defense forces.

He added that the decision was reached to accelerate development in the area.

Tombe added that the allotment process includes provisions for amenities such as graveyards and sports areas, among others.

“We welcome everyone to acquire land and develop this area,” he said.

Martin Patia, a Youth Representative, added that when development comes to the area, the youth will benefit in many ways.

He added that the youth support the area’s development into a city through its allotment to different tribes in South Sudan.

Viola Poni, a Women’s Representative, reiterated that with the opening of roads in the area, the provision of basic services will become easier.

She called on the public to acquire land through established local processes and in consultation with the local communities.
