By Jacob Onuha Nelson

Youth have called on Eastern Equatoria State government to intervene in inter-communal violence between Tirangore and Mura Hatiha in Kiyala Payam of Torit County.

Kayya Albino Kayya, Tirangore Boma youth chairperson, appealed to the state government to reconcile and restore peace between the two communities.

The youth chairperson on Monday, talked to No. 1 Citizen Newspaper on phone, urging the state government not to remain reluctant on the violence.

“We call on the government for having not reconciled and resolved the incident between the parties since 7th, April 2025 up to date over piece of land ownership,” Kayya noted.

According to Mura Hatiha paramount chief, Galileo Ohide Juliano, Eastern Equatoria state government should have played an important role to restore peace between the two villages.

Meanwhile, Tirangore Boma paramount chief, Peter Ikalu Aukario pitied the loss of lives and displacement of families to neighbouring communities.

“Revenge killing can further bloodshed,” Ikalu expressed.

Denision Okillah, a member from the affected area, noted that the conflict between the two communities also interferes with travellers along Torit – Kapoeta road.

“Even Torit-Kapoeta Road is risky,” Okillah said, adding that the government should be clear on its position, so that the two villages do not feel isolated and abandoned by their leaders.
