South Sudan National Elections Commission (NEC) appreciates youth organizations for their efforts to provide hope for upcoming general 2026 elections.
Prof. Abednego Akok Kacuol, speaking during Twic East Youth Association (TEYA) campaigns for 2025-2027 elections in Juba, commended the level of preparation and organization demonstrated by the youth.
The Twic East Youth Association, a branch of the Twic Community Association in Juba, consists of community members from Twic East County in Jonglei State.
The election campaign, held on Saturday, attracted thousands of participants at Gumbo Shirakat, a residential area in Juba.
The candidates are competing based on alliances, with a maximum of five groups vying for leadership positions for the 2025-2026 term.
National Elections Commission (NEC) Chairperson praised the youth election committee, highlighting their preparations as a source of hope for the 2026 elections.
“When I attend youth events like this TEYA campaign, I feel honored because they are well-organized, and this gives hope for our upcoming national elections in 2026,” Prof. Akok stated.
“Youth are organizing elections in their counties, and when the elections come, they will elect their leaders without problems, which is part of civic education,” he added, urging other youth groups to emulate this spirit of organization.
“I am very happy and pray for everyone’s health to ensure that the 2026 elections are successful. I appreciate TEYA’s independent electoral committee for their excellent preparation,” the NEC boss said.
The NEC chairperson encouraged the contestants to accept the election results gracefully and to support one another.
Dr. Akech Awan Adit, Chairman of the TEYA Independent Electoral Committee for 2025-2027, vowed to ensure that the elections are transparent and fair.
He urged candidates to accept defeat should it arise, reminding them that only one seat is available.
Arok Dut Arok, Chairperson of the Twic East Youth Association (TEYA), also expressed gratitude for the commitment shown toward successful election preparations.
He called on candidates to continue their health campaigns and to accept the outcome of the elections gracefully.
