Abyei Special Administrative Area Ministry of Health has received donation of three bicycles and one motorcycle from World Health Organization (WHO).

This boosts its capacity to deliver essential health services, especially in remote, hard-to-reach areas during the challenging rainy season.

The official handover ceremony took place at the Ministry of Health headquarters, attended by key figures including the Hon. Dr. Ayom Korchek Ayom, Minister of Health for Abyei, Dr. Biong Nyok Deng, the Director General of the Ministry, and other senior health officials.

The atmosphere was one of gratitude and anticipation for the positive impact this donation will have on community health.

Minister Ayom emphasized the timely and critical nature of WHO’s support. “This support from WHO comes at a crucial time when access is severely hampered by flooding and poor road conditions,” he stated.

He highlighted that the newly acquired transportation will greatly improve the mobility of dedicated frontline health workers.

This enhanced mobility will empower them to navigate difficult terrain and reach isolated communities, ensuring that crucial health services, from vaccinations to maternal and child health programs, are not disrupted by geographical barriers.

This initiative is a cornerstone of the ongoing efforts to strengthen community-level healthcare delivery throughout Abyei.

It specifically targets vulnerable populations residing in isolated areas who often face the greatest challenges in accessing medical care.

The Ministry of Health extended its profound gratitude to WHO for its unwavering partnership and steadfast commitment to improving public health outcomes in the region.

This donation is expected to play a crucial role in enhancing the reach and effectiveness of health interventions, ultimately contributing to better health and well-being for all Abyei residents.
