South Sudan Football Federation (SSFF) has amended two general regulations for fair and efficient development of clubs, players and competitions.

During an Extraordinary Virtual Meeting of South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) Executive Committee, on 23rd June 2025, in Juba, the body approved amendments to two key articles of General Regulations 2012 (amended 2019).

The extraordinary virtual meeting chaired by SSFF president, Augustino Maduot Parek said Article 52.1 and Article 83.4 were amended.

Article 52.1, which previously designated the period from 1st of June to 30th of June for rest, registration and signing of main contracts, has been extended from 1st of June to 30th of July.

Additionally, Article 52.4, that had set aside the period from 20th December to 30th December for rest period, transfers and contracts of players, has however, been amended, extending the period from 20th December to 20th January.

Aimed at aligning with international best practices and reduce excessive suspensions, the SSFA has revised Article 83.1(a), a disciplinary rule on yellow card accumulation.

The Article, which previously demanded a player to be suspended for one match after accumulating two (2) yellow cards, has been amended.

According to the amendment, a player shall be suspended for one match after accumulating three (3) yellow cards within the same competition.

SSFA Secretary General, Mr. Victor Lawrence Lual said that the amendments reflect the Federation’s commitment to building a fair and efficient regulatory environment that supports the development of clubs, players, and competitions.

According to Lula, South Sudan football federation will familiarize with amendment and enforce approved changes during upcoming football season.
