Police detain officer over revenge killing

A police officer is being detained for shooting a man whom he accuses of killing his brother.

According to authorities in Turalei payam, Twic county of Warrap state, Sergeant Major, Pab Atem killed a man, identified as Angok Akoon, in revenge of his brother.

Twic county chief inspector of police, Brigadier Geng Mayen Geng said that the suspect, stated that the deceased killed his brother sometimes back, in a cattle theft incident, at Ajak Kuac.

The suspect, Pab Atem, accused deceased Angok Akoon, of shooting his brother at the neck, stealing their cattle and was spotted while fleeing the scene.

The police inspector said that Angok Akoon was rushed to St. Teresa Hospital where he succumbed to the bullet wounds.

“He claims that the man whom he shot stole their cows and when he spotted him, he shot him in the neck and that bullet killed him instantly,” he stated.

After the death of the victim, the police inspector authorities in Warrap state instructed them to transfer the suspect who is an officer, to Kuajok where he is being interrogated.

Brigadier Mayen urges the family of the deceased to desist suggestions from other elements in the community to avenge the killing.
