Central Equatoria State governor, Rabi Mujung Emmanuel, has reiterated his commitment to fostering peace, unity and security across the State.
He made these remarks in a meeting with one of several groups that have visited him to extend congratulations following his recent appointment: Lobonok Payam community.
The Lobonok community delegation which included former Vice President, Prof. James Wani Igga pledged full support to the State. It also outlined its readiness in working with the governor’s office to advance development.
The leaders identified critical issues including insecurity, food shortages, insufficient medical personnel and delayed infrastructure projects particularly the incomplete Payam office. They appealed to the governor to act on these issues in order to improve governance at the grassroots level.
Governor Mujung acknowledged the issues raised and assured the community of his commitment to addressing them collectively. He emphasized that unity, stability and infrastructural development are among his top priorities.
“The President directed me to unite the people of Central Equatoria State and I intend to start by engaging all leaders, regardless of their political affiliations. When leaders are united, the people will also be united,” said Governor Mujung.
Cirisio Zacharia Lado, Chairperson of the Lobonok Development and Cultural Association, called for the elevation of Lobonok to county status or at least recognition as an Administrative Payam to enhance service delivery.
“Lobonok is currently classified as Level 4, limiting the presence of humanitarian organizations. Though there are improvements, more needs to be done,” said Seme Rombek, Director of Lobonok Payam who also appealed for intensified efforts to address insecurity and facilitate the return of displaced residents.
Cattle encroaching on farmlands thus hindering agricultural activities was another key issue pointed out by Youth Representative Noel Matayo. He said, “we are ready to farm, but we need your administration to ensure that cattle do not return to destroy our crops.”
The governor expressed appreciation for the delegation’s visit and reaffirmed his government’s unwavering commitment to collaborating with local leadership to improve service delivery and inspire renewed hope within the community
