Warrap to relocate offices to hotspot area to deescalate violence

Authorities in Warrap, declared plans to shift administration to scene of violence as alternative approach for permanent solution to recuring violence in the state.

According to the state minister of information and communication, Mamer Bath Marol, the government is perturbed by barbaric and widespread communal violence, particularly in Greater Tonj area.

“As assurance to the public, the state government is now moving it seat to the scene of violence as an alternative approach and will remain there until permanent solution to the recuring violence is found in the affected area” statement noted.

Efforts to reach out to Mamer Bath Marol, the state Minister of Information and communication were not successful as several phone calls were un answered.

The statement underscored the state government is extremely upset by the recent loss of lives in Tonj North and Tonj East counties.

Statement further stated it condemned the atrocities being directed to the innocent lives by enemies of peace in the affected corners of the statement and urged parties to the skirmishes to refrain from orchestrating further escalation.

“As state government, reiterate our commitment to maintaining peace and assured the public especially victims oof ongoing violence that Warrap state government will investigate the cause of the ongoing communal violence and devise amicable and durable solution to the chronic vice” statement emphasized.

Warrap State frequently experiences deadly communal clashes in the form of cattle raiding and revenge killings.

The government and United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) had conducted training on the importance of peace and reconciliation in Tonj East and Tonj North, Tonj South, Twic and Gogrial counties.

However, the situation on the ground remains unaltered.
