By Yang Ater Yang

Unknown assailants kill a soldier attached to South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF) military police unit, in Cueibet County Lakes State.

Authorities identified the victim as Marop Domkoch, who was killed on Tuesday.

The soldier met his fate after leaving Juba, on permission to go and follow up on a case where his wife reportedly committed adultery.

Lakes State police spokesperson, Major Elijah Mabor Makuac told No. 1 Citizen Daily Newspaper, that court in Cueibet County had already settled the adultery case before the deceased arrived from Juba.

“When the man came, he found the case was already settled, even though the accused was fined 7 heads of cattle for his adultery,” Major explained.

Major, however, revealed that the only issue was that the adulterer didn’t pay the seven heads of cattle to the wife’s husband after the court fined him.

The police spokesperson said when the soldier was trying to go back home after leaving Cueibet County in the evening, an unknown armed man emerged from somewhere and shot him dead.

“So, people are trying to investigate. He has no other case besides this case of his wife, who committed adultery with another man in Cueibet County,” the police spokesperson stressed.

Mabor said in the incident report, the man who committed adultery with the deceased’s wife is a suspect, while the police still conducts an investigation to know exactly what happened.
