Nation Talks

Insecurity increases despite 11years of independence

By Kiden Stela Mandela

It is impossible that our own leaders have ever spoken on the issues to do with improving security in the country just singing like a song of slams to bring total peace to the country while Governors, Ministers and all political parties are busy celebrating 11th year Anniversary of 9th July 2022 in the States, counties, the lives of innocent civilians including a that of chief in Nimule are slain in cold blood everyday including in other parts of the country which is suffering from the same problems. Just shooting all the time why?

Instead of knowing what developmental programs are being done over the 11 years of Independence since the CPA was signed in 2005 leading to the Independence of South Sudan from the longest civil war of 1983 with the Sudan government thinking that South Sudan will be a better place to live in but still it has never been easy because still the rate of blood shed is high in a way that no month or week will end peacefully.

This incident of Nimule just after when the President of the Republic of South Sudan says “we are implementing the peace agreement although there are some people among us who are not allowing us to move smoothly and intend to derail it from the path we have taken your eminence, I cannot return this country back to war” the question is why still shooting in the country does it mean people are not listening to their leaders? And even why solving issues through the barrel of gun not a peaceful process.

Last month (in June) the same situation created in Ngangala of Lokiliri Payam where 9 people were shot dead, their bodies stayed for three days before they were buried and by that if this is intentional practices, it is good if it stops, political parties should wake up from such events that some claim as communal violence, tribalism and many more. One thing all parties that are playing such games should know that, it is not the reason as to why South Sudan separated from Sudan because this is too much. The unity, peace and prosperity that we said, is no longer working if we continue killing ourselves every day. In other way round when you continue pushing someone into the river, be very careful because if it reached the limit it will push back.

In all these politicians are accountable for such murders because after the independence politicians were not ready to cooperate which took people back to crisis and up to now still struggling either to implement the peace or not because they still need to fulfil their interest and also shows the weakness of the security in the country.

I’m appealing to the government and the other political parties to urgently improve on the matter concerning stabilizing strong security in the country and working towards collecting out the redundant guns from the hands of civilians such as cattle raiders, which will set the country in peace and focus on what to do in this alarming hunger. Parties should be committed to the Implementation of the peace agreement.

God Bless South Sudan.

Be right There!.
