Stop rebelling against your own country-Urges SSPDF Commander

South Sudan People’s Defense Force (SSPDF) commander has called on holdout factions to stop fighting their own country and the government.

Acting commander for division six, Major General James Akec Adim was speaking on Friday 29th May 2023, during a belated celebration to mark the 40th anniversary of SPLA day at SSPDF division six headquarters in Maridi County, Western Equatoria State.

The army commander urged all those who rebelled against the government to stop fighting and join to fill vacancies in the different sectors of the organized forces, such as Police, SSPDF, Fire Brigade, Wildlife, Prison Services and National Security.

Recalling the events of December 2013, Major General Akec said the conflict created more gaps in the organizing forces, across the country and has left citizens with no hope of proper security.

Akec criticized some citizens for killing each other.

Describing President Salva Kiir Mayardit as a man of Peace, the army commander encouraged the people of South Sudan to engage in agriculture in order to fight hunger.

Thanking SSSPDF division six, representative of the civilians, Mr. Wilson commended that the SPLA day celebration, though belated, saying it was wonderful, with impact on the ground.

He urges the leaders of SSPDF to teach discipline to the current soldiers on how to respect civilians while in uniform.

The event was marked under the theme “Building a strong relationship between Soldiers and Civilians.”
