Two women have gone missing while collecting firewood in Duk County of Jonglei State.
The incident took place on Wednesday.
The commissioner of Duk County, Peter Latjor Chuol, told No. 1 Citizen Daily Newspaper yesterday that they suspect the missing women were abducted after unsuccessful two days of search.
“Two days ago, a woman in her 20s and a 15-year-old girl in Pajut town went missing after ging to collect firewood from a nearby bush. The two women left home at 10 am,” he said.
The local official said a search for the missing women was futile.
“For the last two days, our youth have been searching for the missing women in the bush but vainly. So we believed that they have been abducted.
Cattle raids and abductions are commonplace among the communities of Greater Jonglei. The vice often goes unpunished.
