It’s true that corruption exists everywhere in the world as labeled by the top government official. Yes, it exists. As a government, you are supposed to fight it but not to depend on it.

Today, if we look at South Sudan, corruption done by government officials is beyond any other country and this is because of the poor system in the country example the greed for money, higher levels of market, political monopolization, including low levels of democracy and the weak civil participation, lake of low political transparency in the country which has made it higher than any country.

Politicians who are depending on such a corrupt issue in the country can be termed as covering up their positions in the government because even if not the international reports on corruption in the country, all junior South Sudanese know the level of corruption in the country to the extent that poor citizens dying of hunger because there is nothing they can do, given the nature of a country that has no tear gas otherwise they would have done peaceful protest under this condition.

The leaders would have not kept quite if they were not corrupt in a country like South Sudan, where there are a lot of minerals and oil but behaved like a country without the economic situation suppressed just because none of them wants to talk about it. Only those who are affected.

Taking the quote from the minister of presidential affairs, “Corruption is everywhere, not South Sudan alone. We can only resolve the issue of corruption by having good laws, good policies so that those who are corrupt are taken care of legally”, which is a good aspect, but….

The question is when are the laws and good policies implemented and respected by politicians? And why is it not started from the top to down? It is better to clean up your house before jumping on the neighbor and the best way is to set up your systems before blaming poor citizens by labeling the government officials corrupt.

Citizens are watching on every toes of a leader. Citizens in this country have no voice to use the law against government officials suspected of having squandered public resources for self- interest because their rights have been denied.

The government should set up system that exposes corrupt activities and risks, the public sector honest, transparent and accountability practice to ensure public sector employees act in the public interest.

In case of any corruption in public office, all the employees will be accountable for it and will be punishable according to the law or system put in place.

It is because of the corruption that made the implementation of the peace very unhurried.

God Bless South Sudan
Be right there.
