Northern Bahr El Ghazal State Governor, Tong Akeen Ngor has issued gubernatorial orders, banning night dances in hotels within the state.
The governor directed Security forces to immediately implement the orders,
He also declared “war” on gang groups terrorizing people in the state.
Governor Akeen stated that he has been patient enough while the gang groups have been misbehaving and attacking people for no reason.
He warned to deal with the so-called “Niggas.”
“We will target them and arrest them one by one,” the governor threatened.
The governor said government does not want the gang groups to continue misbehaving in the state.
“I heard that they used to conduct disco dances in the hotels. Their ways of dressing are so abusive to our culture. So I am directing the security organs to deal with these groups,” governor Akeen said.
The governor disclosed that security personnel have already apprehended some members of the notorious groups.
“We have already arrested some of the gang members. They are now in custody, and they are now feeling how painful it is,” he said.
According to the governor, MBC in Aweil town is one of the recent points where the youth group up and attacked their targets.
He only permitted dances in open public places like at the freedom square, during the day.
“If you want to dance, come to Freedom Square during the day and dance. We will not restrict you from doing it, but if you go to the hotel and practice this nonsense, then you will meet our forces there,” Akeen warned.
Though some Aweil town residents welcomed the governor’s order, they remained reserved about its implementation.
Peter Duang Garang, a resident of Aweil town is skeptical over possible implementation of the order saying the nightclubs and parties are approved by the same government.
“Those who organised these shows pay money to the government, and the government allows them to practice. I see it is difficult to implement this order,” he said.
Monica Arek Kuol, another resident of Aweil town, who embraced the order, said the governor should deploy security even in residential areas to curb the ill practice.
“We want police or security operatives to be present in all the residential areas, especially in Naivasha, Mathiang, Maper, and others, so that they act quickly in case there are criminal activities” she said.
Arek supported the ban of discos at nightclubs.
