Authorities in Kapoeta North have confirmed that two children were abducted, and their mother stabbed by the abductors while returning from the garden.

The incident happened mid-last week.

They were allegedly abducted by suspected armed men from Pibor, an allegation, No. 1 Citizen cannot independently verify.

The stabbed woman Namongin Angeruin is currently undergoing medication at Kapoeta East Mission Civil Hospital.

On 28th April this year, the Government of Eastern Equatoria and Greater Pibor administrative convened a conference that brought together the Buya, Didinga, Tenet, Murle, and the Toposa, to discuss issues of child abduction and cattle raiding.

The conference resolved to end cattle raiding and child abduction and that the abducted children be returned to their rightful owners, but all these messages of hope have been watered down.

EliazIkooLotede Youth Leader Kapoeta North County said that the suspected abductors remain unclear as the Youth in the area continue to pursue the matter.

Emmanuel Epone Lolimo Commissioner Kapoeta North County confirmed the incident saying the Youth are on the ground following the footmarks of the suspected abductors within the border of the two counties.

He also reiterates that communication is ongoing with Greater Pibor authority to help recover the abducted children who were innocently being taken in a harsh manner by the criminal abductors.

Commissioner Lolimo further called on the people of Greater Pibor to end child abduction and embrace peaceful co-existence.

He noted that this is the first of its kind this year for suspected abductors from Pibor to abduct children from the county following many conferences held amongst themselves bordering each other in the counties.
