By Abraham Anyon Ngoor Gorjok
Be not wise in your own eyes, fear the Lord, and depart from evil.
Total independence from God is not just foolishness but rebellion against our creator, the God of heaven and earth.
In our generation today, there is a spirit of rebellion that has risen among all people; this is the luciferous spirit that most people have embraced. No one seems to seek God; many are so focused on making sure they fulfil their selfish ambitions in life.
Our above opening Scripture says, Be not wise in your own eyes; don’t forget that God is the ultimate of all that you see in the world today.
Don’t be bogged down by the affairs of this life, neglecting the voice of God to help you navigate your way through life.
People who spent years doing this have less success in any field, and if they think they succeeded extremely, just tell them they would have succeeded more than they did because that is all they know.
Being wise in your own eyes means seeing things from your perspective, not from God’s perspective. It’s funny that many despise the heavenly counsel, yet God is all-knowing. Right now, as we speak, he knows our thoughts before we act them out. This is to prove to you that life has an author, just as I am writing this opinion now. You must trace me if you need any explanation on any part you may not understand. It’s because I am the author. In the same way, you must consult God, the creator of the universe, and all things that exist by Him, including you. If he had not breathed into your nostrils, you wouldn’t exist today.
The second portion we are told to fear the Lord and depart from evil. The fear of the Lord is everything that sponsors all we need from God. Those who don’t fear the Lord are the ones who refuse and have continuous fellowship with sin and all sorts of evil acts. And remember, the Bible tells us the wages of sin are death, so it’s foolishness to play with something that always renders harm. The evil is the real nature of Satan, and anyone who partakes in that nature of the devil will soon be a victim of death and finally go to hell, where God has destined them to be. That’s why the devil, in these last days, is making sure all the systems of the world march his system; he knows his time is short. So, he is recruiting those who will torment him in the lake of fire for all eternity. What a tragedy!
The Bible tells us in Proverbs chapter one verse seven that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; in some translations, it’s wisdom instead of knowledge.
In other words, fearing God is the beginning of the application of God’s truth in our lives. Making credible decisions inspired by God, who is all-knowing,
Fear of God means reverence for the source of life and the author of all things.
This scriptural writing here doesn’t mean quacking in fear of danger, though when you do what is not right, you attract danger. God is not a manipulator like the devil himself. He seeks reverence or respect from what He created for his glory because, without us doing his will for our lives, there will be no maximum fulfilment of our destiny, and this is what God seeks to bring to completion in us.
Any caring father will always plan for the best for his children; it’s until that plan is brought to fruition that there will be no joy in the father.
Therefore, it’s of greater importance that we seek the counsel of God continuously, no matter what level God has promoted us to; sometimes we tend to be proud in our hearts just because of a little lifting from God that we have attained by seeking the counsel of God that will lift us more. Don’t you see here that the devil doesn’t need your progress in life? He comes to steal, kill, kill and destroy, but Jesus came to give your life in its abundance, according to the book of John 10:10.
The devil doesn’t need you to enjoy and fulfil the very plan of God for your life because hooked upon that plan is your ultimate fulfilment from your ultimate source of life, wisdom, knowledge, and understanding.
Never be wise in your own eyes; otherwise, you will be a victim of life. Fear God and do what he tells you today to always have a glorious future in him.
