What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the holy spirit which is in you, ye of God, and ye are not your own?
For ye are bought with a price: therefore, glorifies God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s. 1corinthians 6:19-20
Before the ascension of Jesus Christ king of glory, he promised to leave with us a comforter and a helper that replace him in his absence to comfort and help us in our distresses and shortcomings.
In our above opening scripture, the Bible began to say that what? know ye not that your body is the temple of the holy spirit which is in you, you are of God, and you are not your own; in other words, he says don’t you have the knowledge that your body is the temple of the holy spirit, don’t you know you are of God and you are not your own.
There is a mystery here in the scriptures my brother and sister, when Jesus ascended into heaven; we were ultimately privileged by the fulfilment of the promise of the holy spirit and the Holy Spirit of God immediately takes residence in us the moment we accept Jesus as lord of our life and seals us into salvation automatically.
Prior to verse 19 which is 18, we are told not to indulge in fornication and Prostitution since our body is the temple of the holy spirit of God. Our body is the Tabernacle of God, he (God) determines what is used of it. Remember he says you are no longer your own, you are His.
You automatically become God’s own property which he mentions in the other following verse of Scripture that we are bought with a price therefore glorify God in your body and spirit which are His.
There is a heavy price that you and I were bought, a price that no human being was unable to pay except God almighty, in the book of John 3:16, it says For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him shall not perish by have everlasting life but whosoever doesn’t believe in him shall perish.
It is so vital to note that our lives are central to God, have you wondered why God sent his son yet the blood of bulls and goats were shed every time there was appeasement of God to cleanse the people from their sins?
We have to understand that we are created in the image of a God, and God can’t use the blood of bulls and goats to utterly cleanse us from sin why? He would be cheapening us if he had done that. You and I are so valuable to God almighty, we came out of him; he says that he breathed into the nostrils of Adam, and he became a living soul.
We are of the same material as him, so let’s understand this truth that life should live in honour of him because he is the only one who paid the heavy price for us to be redeemed today
You must glorify God in your body and spirit which are God’s, this mentality of independence against God is erroneous; let’s stop it. Indulgence into selfish acts is not of God, it’s an abomination to God if you still wallow in sin with all that price paid to redeem you and I.
This carelessness is the sponsor of all premature deaths, delayed prayers and hypocrisy in the church today. Let’s surrender completely to God so that he accomplishes in us that which he ordained us to do on the earth, you are no longer your own the moment you receive Jesus.
Therefore, we must embrace the spirit of meekness to glorify God continuously with our body and spirit which are His and I believe we shall be enviable champions on the earth.
Prophetic Confessions
Lord, I will glorify you in my body and spirit which are yours; from today I give you full liberty to use them whatever you want in Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
Prayer of salvation
Thank you Jesus for the death on the cross to wash away my sins, today I accept you as the lord of my life; I am born again in Jesus’ mighty name, Amen!
