Magwi announces drug shops registration

Magwi County Health Department in Eastern Equatoria State has directed all drug sellers, clinics, and pharmacy owners within the county to register, effective March 5th, 2024.

A letter issued by the Pharmaceutical Supervisor, Mrs. Olga Eunice Odera, and seen by this outlet instructed all drug shops to register at the county health department.

The registration process will begin on Tuesday, March 5th, 2024.

Mrs Odera encouraged drug sellers to bring their necessary documents for registration and renewal as soon as possible.

However, the exact documents required are not specified in the registration announcement.

The county health authorities stated that the registration documents will be submitted to the state Ministry of Health Directorate for Pharmaceutical Services for licensing for the year 2024.

While the directive does not explicitly state consequences for non-compliance, it emphasizes the responsibility of shop and clinic owners to submit their documents

Last year, the in charge of Pajok Primary Health Care Center in Magwi County urged the community to seek prescriptions and diagnoses from healthcare facilities before purchasing any medication.
