Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has fully resumed medical services in Ulang after a temporary suspension due to security concerns.
The MSF team has returned to Ulang and reinstated all medical activities, reaffirming their commitment to delivering essential care to the local community.
The suspension, which began on August 15, was prompted by a serious security threat from a local individual.
During this period, only essential lifesaving services were maintained while MSF staff were partially evacuated.
“After receiving assurances of safety and protection for our staff and facilities from both the authorities and the community, and after closely monitoring the situation in collaboration with Ulang County authorities, we have decided to restore our operations to full capacity,” said Zakaria Mwatia, Head of Mission for MSF in South Sudan.
“Patients and humanitarian workers must never be targeted. We urge for the continued protection of patients, healthcare workers, and medical facilities.”
MSF operates a secondary healthcare hospital in Ulang and provides decentralized care at 12 locations throughout the County.
