The Transitional Government of National Unity (TGoNU) has signed several Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and agreements with less transcended to certainty.

Despite the past lapses, the adoption of MoU signed with China, on agriculture and food security, by the National Council of Ministers must not be another smokescreen.

The sleeping LAPSET project of Juba-Torit to Nadapal road, for instance and talks of reviving national Agricultural schemes, lingering for so long without a pinch on ground.

Besides Agriculture, this country is blessed with abundant natural resources, only awaiting taping and innovative value addition, to accrue in foreign currency. These various potential income and revenue sources would relieve the burden of reliance on fossil fuel which encounters lots of predicaments.

President Salva Kiir Mayardit has a projection of Agriculture as the economic backbone of this country, at heart but somewhere, the disciples translate his utopia, as backpedal.

In 2015, President Kiir piously directed the purchase of about 1,000 tractors for the National Ministry of Agriculture to boost food production, alas, no this enormous project seems to have ended in oblivion.

Nonetheless, this glamorous initiative of President Kiir is never mentioned in any public or private gatherings, since the distribution of the tractors, over nine years ago.

How could a mega project of much anticipated benefits for the citizens, just disappear in thin air without a trace?

The South Sudan-China, MoU on agricultural projects, must not follow its predecessors, ending nowhere.

We need answers, we result and we need tangible benefits, not news of agreements signed on pieces of paper.
