Jonglei State governor commits to empower youth

The newly appointed governor of Jonglei State has reiterated his commitment towards building skills of the youth for effective decision making.

Dr. Riek Gai kok made the remark while meeting the Vice President for Gender and Youth Cluster, Rebeca Nyandeng, in her office, on Tuesday.

The governor reassured Vice President Nyandeng, of his dedicated plans in developing the skills and knowledge of young people for effective participation in decision making and co-creation of knowledge on diverse matters.

According to office of the governor, Dr. Gai noted that youth embody the hope and promise of thriving state, as well as the country to lead African continent for decades of generations to come.

“The youth hold a world of promise and it is imperative that a state like Jonglei ensures the realization of this promise’’ the governor stated.

The governor further, emphasised that youth should be the centre of every decision making and affirmed that the leadership of Jonglei state will continue to nurturing talents as well as reaching out to young people to ensure they are empowered and natured for the future.

He appreciated the Vice President for Gender and Youth Cluster for her continuous engagement with various youth across the country in numerous interventions.

Meanwhile, Nyandeng welcomed the governor’s plans of transforming the youth across the state.

She argued that equipping the youth with leadership skills is critical and helps them to determine their destiny.

Nyandeng pointed that youth need to be guided while deciding on matters related to education, employment, leadership and business skills.

“These skills are essential in raising future leaders who will not only transform South Sudan but the globe, the importance of equipping and empowering young change-makers with tools needed to build sustainable social enterprise” Nyandeng stressed.
