Eastern Equatoria State Governor, Louis Lobong Lojore has vowed to tackle a persistent insecurity tormenting Lafon County.
In a visit to the county, Lobong emphasized the importance of stability for neighbouring Central Equatoria and Jonglei States.
According to the Governor’s press unit, Lobong’s visit to Lafon on Sunday, April 13, 2025, followed numerous reports of security incidents affecting the local population.
During his visit, he engaged with the Pari community, who voiced concerns including insecurity, child abductions, food shortages due to potential hunger, and the dire state of roads connecting the county’s various Payams and Bomas.
Addressing the residents, Governor Lobong called on residents to unite and coexist peacefully with neighboring communities.
He also echoed President Salva Kiir Mayardit’s commitment to preventing a return to conflict.
The governor further urged the community to prioritize agriculture, highlighting its vital role as the backbone of the state and the nation.
Lobong encouraged the youth to actively participate in trade and business ventures to stimulate economic growth and development within the region.
The Commissioner of Lafon County, Mr. Magisto Ukachi Agweri, detailed the hardships faced by the residents.
The challenges include scarcity of essential resources, inadequate access to education, and reliance on outdated farming methods.
Commissioner Agweri also appealed for the upgrade of the Lafon primary health care center to a full-fledged hospital to improve healthcare access for the community.
The State Minister of Information in Eastern Equatoria, Mr. Elia John Ahaji, affirmed that the Governor’s visit was specifically aimed at understanding the pressing concerns of the Lafon community firsthand.
He stated that the crucial issues raised have been noted and assured the residents that the Eastern Equatoria State government will take necessary action to address the challenges, with a particular focus on collaborating with relevant counterparts to resolve the insecurity issue.
