The level of criminality in the country is untold.
In government institutions, the private sector and individuals, where arresting a criminal is just like a joke. If a criminal is arrested in the morning, the very person will be freed in the afternoon time regardless of whether it’s on charges of murder. The system is very loose, starting from the police station, judiciary and custodians of inmates that can’t hold defaulters of the law, accountable.
The government should open up custodial (prisons) at least 50 kilometers away from the capital and cities within the country. These correctional facilities be equipped different types of learning institutions inside, for instance; primary, secondary and vocational schools to open up convicts’ eyes while serving their terms. In such away all class of criminals will be transformed and find better understanding.
However, while undergoing reformation, the convicts must be subjected to work hard, to produce every food for their survival. As a part of their punishment, parents must not be allowed to see their children until the term reformation ends.
Imagine, the police on their operation duties arrested over 623 gangsters perpetrating criminal activities such as rape and killing innocent people. They also apprehended a witchdoctor.
The suspected gangsters in Gumbo Sherikat residential area were arrested with dangerous objects like pangas, knives and drugs.
These ill activities of gangsters tarnish the image of the country and the government at large, as such, these crimes need serious investigation and those found guilty must be immediately taken to custody.
If they are taken to join vocational training inside and others learn digging, their contribution will help improve the economic situation of the country.
Gumbo and Lologo are the leading areas with merciless gang activities in Juba where young boys and men between 14-30 years old commit atrocities. Despite government presents in the city, the criminal acts towards the communities, persists.
These gangsters are in different groups. Some are having pangs, others moving with AK47 and pistols, putting the lives of innocent citizens at risk. The leave education to take part in killing and robbery.
I condemned gang raping of young girls in these groups known as ODO, Black devils, killers’ gang, West coast, 4SG slime, among others
I appeal to the government of South Sudan to put more effort into protecting citizens and their properties and to arrest these so-called gangs to face the law.
God protect South Sudan
